Affordable Housing: Update

Eviction set-out:

Helped a household that relied on SSI disability checks transport some of their belongings to storage and communicate with the sheriff and landlord. The elderly head of household had been hospitalized with coronavirus and rent went unpaid. The family filed the CDC's eviction moratorium to delay the eviction, but it was not enforced because they did not have proof their hardship was caused by the coronavirus. They are currently staying at a neighbors house until they can get into a homeless shelter.

This proves as yet another example of the issues surrounding affordable housing. There is little to no security protecting those living in affordable housing from being evicted and losing there home at any moment. Especially when the residents are dependent on one source of income, any unexpected emergency may cause them to miss payments and be forced to leave.
